Taner grew up helping his dad with the upkeep of rental properties in South Florida, which led him to develop a strong skill set for construction and design. Taner attended Florida State University and graduatedwith his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. From there, he began working for an international foundation company specializing in dam construction.
His experience led him to a position to with the US Army Corp of Engineers as a project engineer managing coastal construction projects. Taner was trained at numerous Army Corp offices throughout Florida, and worked on projects involving coastal restorations, everglades restoration, Lake Okeechobee dike rehabilitation, and the Portugués dam in Puerto Rico. While working, he earned his professional engineering license and Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Arkansas.
After working for 3 years with the Army Corp of Engineers, Taner moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he focused on residential and commercial construction and design. He realized there was a need for engineers for small residential and commercial projects dealing with structural analysis and building code requirements. Taner began working as a consultant to local contractors, investors, and home owners specializing in wood frame construction.
