Civil Design

Moment Engineering works with both public (local councils and municipalities) and private (businesses and home owners) sectors on designing the land for grading, erosion control, stormwater management and water and wastewater systems.

We’re also proud to have Certified Level II Design Professionals in our team, along with our Professional Engineers. This means we can meet the requirements of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.

CASE STUDY: VIRGINIA HIGHLANDS BUILDING

THE PROJECT

Virginia Highlands is a small, well-known neighborhood in Atlanta. It’s got a lovely community vibe, and the locals don’t want huge tracts of development in order to retain that feel. However, they’re looking to build a small structure with a dry cleaner’s and a couple of apartments, and we’ve been tasked with designing the land for storm water and erosion.

THE DESIGN

Moment Engineering needs to provide a site plan for the proposed building. The site plan includes a stormwater management plan for the proposed building that deals with where stormwater will go, and the design of best management practices for low impact development. Stormwater runoff an cause real damage to public safety, public and private property value and usability, and drinking water supplies.

We’re also working on an erosion plan that meets the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and City of Atlanta regulations.
